For thousands of years, the I Ching has guided decisions about our health, relationships, financial matters, work, and play. Predictions from the I Ching follow the lunar year and are based on multiple, overlapping cycles that govern the heavens and the earth. A variety of stems, branches, directions, and phases also have their say, each creating a trail of clues and possibilities, so let us begin …
In the Chinese horoscope, June is the fifth lunar month in a phase called wǔ 午. This phase is a time of maximum Fire energy, so it is no surprise that the longest day of sunlight occurs on June 21st. Dragons, the Fire Element and the solstice, are all related―they embody activity, brightness, sunshine, daylight, and heat―all apt descriptions of wǔ.
The name June dates back to Roman times when Juno the goddess of love married Jupiter, the god of light and the sky. June is the traditional month for weddings in this country, and any date works nicely for western brides, but Chinese brides prefer to plan their weddings on auspicious days that end in the lucky numbers 8 or 9 or add up to an 8 or a 9, like June 17 or June 27.
June’s luxuriant Fire influence is a constructive, creative, and positive force that creates many possibilities for development and success. Remember too that Fire can also burn and consume, so we must channel this energy wisely. In the meantime, be on the lookout for interesting new possibilities during this entire month―who knows what exciting things might happen!

Just like water, your energy enjoys constant movement. Strong Water people are very dynamic and like to move freely. Activities that would be a natural for you include skating, skiing, running, cycling, swimming, and dance. You don’t like being tied down to any one sport or activity, so why not give all of them a try? Cross training is the name of your game, so keep up the good work!
Water people like being unpredictable and don’t like feeling tied down. You also like having a social life and having all sorts of fun things on the agenda, but sometimes it can be hard for you to figure out exactly what you want to do. Even though it is your nature to run free, it might be helpful for you to ask your friends to help you set some boundaries, so they can have fun too.
You like to impress people with your skills, latest discoveries, and new information. That means your self-confidence depends upon what other people think about you. When your energy is strong, you enjoy feeling confident and superior, but you will need to indulge in a little self-care when you find yourself withdrawing or feeling as if you are second (or third) fiddle to others.
In cooperation with a suitable partner or partners, you can get beyond your tendency to avoid making mistakes and accomplish great things. You like doing your own research and making up your own mind―that’s what Warren Buffet did. He made a fortune by simply following his own system of investments, rarely took risks, and only went for investments that he truly believed in. Go you!
Water people like you are diplomatic and sociable and get along easily with your colleagues. When you love you job, you are self-motivated to do your best so there is no need for anyone to supervise you. If however, you don’t see the purpose of your work, you may well decide to get up and leave even if you don’t have another job waiting. Oh boy, now that could be a dilemma!
